Munich Knits
Yarn & Craft Festival
After two successful editions at the pop-up location FATCAT, the festival will move to a larger, more modern venue in 2025 – featuring even more international exhibitors, creative offerings, renowned knitwear designers hosting workshops, and a top-class supporting program.
The festival brings together Europe’s growing DIY, yarn, and crafting scene: for three days, everything revolves around knitting, crochet, weaving, sewing, sustainable materials, colors, and design. Visitors can look forward to a unique mix of marketplace, workshops, talks, community lounges, and gastronomy.
A special highlight is the exclusive Saturday evening event, where world-renowned Creative Leader and Member of the British Empire (MBE) – Kaffe Fassett – will give a keynote on “Color Inspirations” – an inspiring deep dive into the power and significance of colors in textile design.

Rifò's Textile Tours offer a close-up look at the textile recycling supply chain in Prato. The tour goes from the selection of waste materials by the traditional cenciaioli artisans, to the spinning mills where recycled fibers are turned into yarn, to the historic Textile Museum of Prato, and finally to Rifò itself, where visitors can see and touch a sweater made from recycled materials with low environmental and social impact.

HISTORISCHE SCHAUWEBEREI BRAUNSDORF
exhibition
.…is a technical museum and a monument to architectural and production history.
In the partly still original production halls, the various process stages of the elaborate manufacturing—from yarn to finished fabric—are presented.
The existing, fully functional, and demonstrable machinery collection holds great historical technical value. Besides the original Buckskin weaving machines with Jacquard attachments from the Tannenhauer weaving mill, there are several rare specimens produced by machine-building companies from Chemnitz.

Raum der Farbe
exhibition
The variety of color combinations and patterns is demonstrated by hundreds of butterflies and birds. Birds of paradise and peacocks display their shimmering colors, and a male great bustard — rarely seen in museums — presents itself in full courtship display. However, the colors of nature are not random; they always have an effect on others. They serve as a means of communication, strategies for camouflage, warning, and attraction, and have evolved through biological processes over time.
The themed exhibition space “Color” invites visitors to rediscover the colors of nature. Animals, plants, and minerals are displayed here, sorted by color.
